Monaco re-signs head coach Sasa Obradovic

Monaco and head coach Sasa Obradovic have agreed to a new deal that will keep the veteran coach with the team until June 2023. Obradovic’s agent, Misko Raznatovic, took to Twitter on Wednesday and revealed the news.

Obradovic took over Monaco in December, replacing then head coach Zvezdan Mitrovic. He helped the squad advance to the 2022 EuroLeague playoffs and clinch its spot in next season’s competition. Under the veteran coach, Monaco has gone 26-10 in all competitions.

After great success this year with qualification for EL play off, Sasa Obradovic will be head coach of As Monaco for the season 22-23!#BeoBasket — Misko4Raznatovic (@MiskoRaznatovic) April 6, 2022

“Before coming here, the team had no goal to reach the Top 8. Now, though, we are still alive and we will try until the end to advance to the playoffs,” coach Obradovic had told Hedgeout.net in early March.

Monaco (14-13) will finish seventh in the standings and will take on Real Madrid or Olympiacos in the postseason. The best-of-five series tip off on April 19.
