Monaco makes playoff statement after triumph vs Fenerbahce

Monaco used a dominant second-quarter performance to rally past Fenerbahce to make another step to the playoffs (92-78).

The hosts were unstoppable in the second quarter, outscored the Turks 36-13 and led by 20 at halftime (53-33). Fenerbahce never recovered after that and saw its five-game winning streak come to an end.

MVP: Alpha Diallo was the top scorer for Monaco with 21 points. Donatas Motiejunas and Will Thomas added 18 and 14 points, respectively.

Key to victory: Monaco went on a 36-15 run in the second quarter and cruised to an easy victory. The hosts played excellent on both ends after the first quarter and claimed a crucial home win.

Monaco made another step towards the playoffs, improving to 14-13 in the standings. They also took the tie-breaker over Fenerbahce, as they had lost by 10 in Turkey (96-86).

For their part, the visitors dropped to 12-11, but are still fighting for a place in the postseason.

Next week, Monaco travels to Spain to face league leaders FC Barcelona (March 3). On the other hand, Fenerbahce will square off with rivals Anadolu Efes.
