Monaco aims to become a EuroLeague powerhouse next season and has significantly increased its budget.
The Monegasques had a successful 2021/22 season, reaching the EuroLeague playoffs and the French League Finals.
Next year, they aim to go all the way in all competitions and have already bolstered their roster. They will also increase their budget from 14M euros to 20M euros.
“Over the past 12 months, we have gone from a ‘no name’ team to a Final Four contender. Our playoff clash with Olympiacos attracted significant interest in France and Europe.
Our main goal is to become a shareholder in the EuroLeague, but at the moment we will focus on receiving a wild card every year,” GM Oleksiy Yefimov told Monaco Tribune.
Yefimov also noted that the club has to create a solid and long-term project and wants to keep its core with multi-year deals.
“I think the fact that Mike James is staying with us for the long term sends another strong message to the community: we want to have continuity in the team. Our market strategy will be built on the idea of having long-term player contracts,” the GM added.
So far, Monaco has signed Elie Okobo, Jordan Loyd, John Brown and Jaron Blossomgame, while re-signing star guard Mike James, Donta Hall and head coach Sasa Obradovic.
