Mindaugas Kuzminskas to become second player to leave Zenit

Mindaugas Kuzminskas is set to become the second player to part ways with Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Kuzminskas made this decision following the invasion of Russia to Ukraine. The Lithuanian website 15min.lt notes that Kuzminskas will return to his home country.

If Kuzminskas parts ways with Zenit, he will join Shabbaz Napier, who left the team on Saturday. Napier was ready for his return to action, following a serious ankle injury back in September.

The two-time NBA champion changed his mind, though, and will not be part of the squad moving forward. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that Russia’s attack prompted Napier’s departure to the United States.

Kuzminskas has been averaging 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 12 minutes over 22 EuroLeague games. Arturas Gudaitis could also leave the team in the coming days. Zenit is currently fifth in the standings, at 14-9.
