Milan to reportedly sign EuroCup star Stefano Tonut

Olimpia Milan wants to bolster the group of Italian players in the team’s squad and they’re expected to sign Stefano Tonut on 2+1 deal, per TuttoSport (h/t BasketNews).

The Umana Reyer Venezia guard has been playing for his current club for seven years. The guard will be able to leave Venice in the summer by taking advantage of the €200,000 EuroLeague exit clause.

Tonut’s current deal expires in 2023. The 28-year-old veteran guard put up 9.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists in EuroCup this season. He was also part of the Italian NT in Tokyo Olympics last summer.

He won two Italian League titles with Umana Reyer Venezia in 2017 and 2019. He averaged 14.0, 3.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists in the Italian League this season.

The scoring guard started his career with Alianz Trieste back in 2012. Milan will look to improve its roster after the Italian powerhouse made the EuroLeague playoffs and the EuroLeague Final-4 the last two seasons under Ettore Messina.
