Olimpia Milano has suffered another huge blow in its chances to advance to the EuroLeague Final-Four. Milan announced Friday Malcolm Delaney will miss the rest of the best-of-five series vs Efes.
Delaney, who averages 9.4 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.5 rebounds across 28 EuroLeague games this season, will remain sidelined for the remainder of the series and his status will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
During the same game, Sergio Rodriguez suffered a sprained left ankle which will be further evaluated in the coming days. Rodriguez was a big contributor for the Italian side during Thursday’s Game 2 win that tied the series vs Efes at 1-1.
Milan is already missing Luigi Datome and Nicolo Melli, who was injured in Game 1 of the EuroLeague playoffs. Melli ruled out for the playoffs due to an injury to the medial twin of his right leg.
“You could see coach Ataman correctly smiling, he was not even upset. He knows that the series is almost over. We are probably playing without four or five players in the next games” HC Ettore Messina admitted in his post-game presser Thursday.
