Olimpia Milano returned to its winning ways after outlasting Panathinaikos 75-76 in a close-fought game for EuroLeague’s Round 28. Milan needed Kyle Hines to make the game-winning free throw with 2.0 seconds remaining to halt a two-game losing streak.
Milan boosted the lead to 11 points (49-60) during the third quarter. However, Panathinaikos was able to get back in the game. The Greens tied the contest at 75-75 with less than 30 seconds remaining for the end of the game.
Sergio Rodriguez missed a potential winning three-pointer, but Kyle Hines secured the offensive rebound and draw a foul with 2.0 seconds remaining. Hines made his first attempt and rebounded his second after missing.
Malcolm Delaney was the leading scorer for the winning side with 15 points. He was followed by Kyle Hines, who added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Nemanja Nedovic led Panathinaikos with 19 points. Georgios Papagiannis and Howard Sant-Roos each had 11 for the home side.
Key of the Game: Milan finished the game with nine more rebounds, including 10 offensive rebounds. The Italian’s controlled the paint and overcame Panathinaikos in Athens.
Olimpia Milano will travel to Madrid next week to face Real in a significant matchup for both teams. Panathinaikos will take the week off for EuroLeague Round 29.
