Mike James hits game-winner to keep Monaco alive in playoff race

Mike James hit the game-winner and led Monaco to a crucial home win over UNICS Kazan (79-76).

The American star guard made the three-pointer in the final play of the game and handed his team the victory.

James finished the game with 25 points (7/18 shooting) and seven assists, helping Monaco maintain a playoff push.

The hosts led for the majority of the night, but the Russians came back and made it a late thriller. With OJ Mayo making five three-pointers, UNICS tied the game in crunch time (76-76). Yet, Mike James had the final say in the contest and decided the outcome for Monaco.

Monaco swept the season series with UNICS Kazan and now has the tie-breaker (2-0). The hosts improved to 13-13 and climbed to eighth in the standings. On the other hand, UNICS dropped to 13-12, but remains seventh on the table.

On Friday, Monaco will host Fenerbahce (12-10) in a must-win game for both sides. For their part, the Russians will face Baskonia at Fernando Buesa Arena on Thursday.
