Marius Grigonis joins Panathinaikos on a two-year deal

Panathinaikos has signed Lithuanian veteran swingman Marius Grigonis, who joined the Greek club on a two-year deal, per the team’s official statement. Grigonis is coming to add his shot making ability to the Greek giants.

He spent last season with CSKA Moscow averaging 9.8 points, 1.9 assists and 1.1 rebounds per contest. He left the team in March after the Russian invasion in Ukraine, but he had one year remaining in his deal with the club.

Grigonis will become the third signing of the offseason for Panathinaikos after Paris Lee and Panagiotis Kalaitzakis. The Lithuanian swingman became the main for Pana after the team reportedly failed to come to an agreement with Nick Calathes.

The Greens will hope to return to the EuroLeague playoffs next season after a disappointing 2021-22 campaign. Panathinaikos also lost both domestic cup and league title to arch-rival Olympiacos during the past season.

Per the latest reports, Grigonis will form a backcourt duo with Nate Wolters for the Athenian club.
