Maccabi Tel Aviv completed another signing in its busy summer as they finalized a deal with center Josh Nebo, the team announced Friday. That will be Nebo’s second stint in Israel after playing for Hapoel Eliat in 2020.
The Houston native made his first appearance in EuroLeague last season after joining Lithuanian powerhouse Zalgiris Kaunas last summer. He was one of the few bright spots for the Kaunas-based club in an otherwise disappointing season.
In his Euroleague debut season with Zalgiris Kaunas, Nebo started in 17 of 28 games in which he took part and contributed 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in an average of 22 minutes per contest.
“I’m excited to come back to Israel and join the special tradition of Maccabi”, Josh Nebo told Maccabi’s official website. “I will bring my effort and toughness to Tel Aviv. let’s win!”.
In his first stint in the Israeli league, Nebo made an immediate impact averaging a double-double with 13.6 points per game on 67% shooting, while he led the league with 10.0 rebounds per contest.
“He is a very good defender in one-on-one situations and in team defense. He has prior acquaintance with Israeli basketball and the EuroLeague, which is an important advantage,” head coach Oded Katash said.
