Kevin Pangos joins Milan

Canadian point guard and EuroLeague star Kevin Pangos is joining Milan on a two-year deal the club announced. Pangos had a deal in place with CSKA last February after spending the first months of the 2021-22 season in Cleveland with the Cavaliers.

The veteran guard never joined the Russian team since Russia invaded Ukraine six months ago. Pangos and Olimpia were waiting the situation with CSKA to resolve in order to make his move to Milan official.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to play for such a great organization and to represent this nice city of Milan. I can’t wait to get started, to work with this group of guys and help the team win as much as possible,” Kevin Pangos said.

Undrafted in 2015 after four years in Gonzaga, he moved to Europe and signed for Gran Canaria. He was named to the All-Eurocup second team (11.9 points, 4.8 assists per game and 51.2 percent shooting from three), after leading his team to the semifinals stage.

In 2016, he moved to Zalgiris Kaunas, making his EuroLeague’s debut. After averaging 8.7 points and 3.2 assists per game as a rookie, he made a jump in his second season, averaging 12.7 points and 5.9 assists per game during the 2017/18 season.

Zalgiris reached the Final Four and he was named to the All-EuroLeague second team during his last season there. In 2018, he was signed by FC Barcelona. He had 7.0 points and 3.2 assists per game.

He remained two years, but during his second season -however cut short – he could only play three Spanish league games and no EuroLeague games at all, because of a foot injury. He made the jump to Zenit next season and help the team reach the postseason.

He averaged 13.5 points and 6.7 assists per game with the EuroLeague newcomer while being named to the All-EuroLeague first team. In 2021, he made his NBA debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He appeared in 29 games.

Prior to announcing Pangos, Milan parted ways with point guard Davide Moretti
