Kansas survived a late thriller over North Carolina (69-72) and won the 2022 NCAA title in New Orleans.
The Jayhawks made a wild comeback from down 16 (38-22) in the first half and 15 at halftime (40-25) to claim the championship.
Kansas outscored North Carolina 29-47 in the second half and went on to win its fourth NCAA title. This was the largest comeback in championship game history.
David McCormack and Jalen Wilson led the Jayhawks with 15 points apiece. Remy Martin added 14 off the bench for the winners.
On the other hand, the Tar Heels had the chance to force overtime. But, Caleb Love missed the game-tying three-pointer in the final play.
Armando Bacot had 15 points and 15 rebounds for the losing squad to become the first player to record double-doubles in all six tournament games.
He finished the season with 31 double-doubles, tying David Robinson for the all-time NCAA record for double-doubles in a single season.
North Carolina failed to become the second team after 1985 Villanova to win March Madness as the 8 seed.
