Juancho Hernangomez has attracted the interest of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, according to Marca.
Per the Spanish newspaper, both Spanish powerhouses have entered the race to sign Hernangomez.
The 26-year-old forward joined the San Antonio Spurs last month. Yet, the Spurs traded him to the Utah Jazz several days ago.
Juancho Hernangomez has appeared in just 25 games this season (1.2 points, 1.6 rebounds). Therefore, it is very likely the Jazz will go on to waive him. If that happens and no other NBA team signs him, he will become a free agent.
In that case, both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona will make their moves to sign him. For the time being, it seems Hernangomez’s priority is to remain in the NBA until the end of the season.
If he becomes a free agent, though, nobody could rule out a return to Europe and the EuroLeague for the Spanish forward.
For their part, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are the grand favorites to go all the way in the EuroLeague. They share the top spot in the standings with a 20-5 record. At the same time, they seek to bolster their roster ahead of the playoffs.
Both teams are expected to clinch their spot in the postseason soon and also claim the home-court advantage.
