The Basketball Federation of Italy officially announced on Tuesday they parted ways with head coach Meo Sacchetti.
According to the official announcement, Sacchetti’s contract with the national team was terminated and the Federation is now looking for his replacement. The veteran coach joined the national team back in 2017 and led Italy to the 5th place in the 2021 Olympic Games.

Whoever replaces Sacchetti will make his debut in the game vs the Netherlands in the finale of the first round of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers (July 4).
Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the assistant coach of Armani Milano, Gianmarco Pozzecco, is the favorite to take over the national team.
