The Basketball Federation of Italy officially announced on Thursday its preliminary roster for the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket.
17 players will participate in the training camp ahead of the tournament, which will take place in September (1-18). Boston Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari headlines the roster, which includes several EuroLeague players as well.
The 17 players that will join the preliminary roster are as follows:
Amedeo Della Valle, Marco Spissu, Niccolò Mannion, Paul Biligha, Stefano Tonut, Danilo Gallinari, Nicolò Melli, Simone Fontecchio, Amedeo Tessitori, Giampaolo Ricci, Matteo Spagnolo, Tommaso Baldasso, Achille Polonara, Gabriele Procida, Alessandro Pajola, Luigi Datome, John Petrucelli
Italy will play France (twice), Serbia, Germany and the Czech Republic as part of its preparation for the EuroBasket. They will then take on Ukraine (August 24) and Georgia (August 27) in the tip-off of the second round of the Basketball World Cup Qualifiers.
Italy will host Group C of the EuroBasket in Milano and will face Greece, Estonia, Ukraine, Great Britain and Croatia.
