Iffe Lundberg became the latest CSKA Moscow player to leave the team before the end of the 2021-22 regular season, the team announced.
Lundberg is the third player to terminate his contract with CSKA following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Daniel Hackett and Tornike Shengelia have already parted ways with the Russian club and joined Virtus Bologna.
After the Russian invasion to Ukraine, the EuroLeague decided to suspend the four Russian clubs from EuroLeague and Eurocup.
More specifically, CSKA Moscow, UNICS Kazan and Zenit St. Petersburg have been suspended from EuroLeague, while the same happened to Lokomotiv Kuban in the EuroCup.
Lundberg joined CSKA the past season. He played 65 games for the Muscovites with averages of 10.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals.
“I had to make a very hard decision, a decision based on the safety of my family’s well being. I’d like to thank the entire CSKA staff, organization.”
