The national team of Greece expects Giannis Antetokounmpo to confirm his participation for the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket.
This is what the general manager of the national team, Nikos Zisis, told the Greek national television when asked about the status of the NBA superstar.
“Honestly, I wanted Giannis to succeed in the NBA Playoffs. We were convinced from our trip to Milwaukee that he really wanted to play for the national team in the summer.
His playing status wouldn’t be affected by extending the campaign further in the postseason. Even if he was crowned champion, he would gladly play for us.
We are waiting for him to rest up and afterward arrange another meeting to confirm him being available [for EuroBasket],” Nikos Zisis said.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks got eliminated from the NBA playoffs, after losing to the Boston Celtics in Game 7.
For its part, Greece will play Croatia, Italy, Great Britain, Ukraine and Estonia in the group stage of the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket.
