Gianmarco Pozzecco is the new head coach of Italy, the Basketball Federation of the country announced on Thursday.
Pozzecco replaces former head coach Meo Sacchetti, who parted ways with the national team earlier this week.

The 50-year-old coach will make his debut on July 4, when Italy plays the Netherlands for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers. His official presentation will take place on Friday, June 3.
Pozzecco was a member of the Italian national team that won the silver medal in the 2004 Olympic Games.
He will now be the head coach of the team in the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket (1-18 September). Italy is a co-host of the tournament and will take on Greece, Estonia, Ukraine, Great Britain and Croatia in the group stage in Milano.
