Markus Howard won’t be back with the Denver Nuggets and he’s expected to sign a deal with EuroLeague side Baskonia, the club announced Sunday. Howard played the 2021-22 season with the Nuggets on a two-way contract and played in a total of 31 games.
The 23-year-old guard missed time with an ankle sprain during the past season. In his time on the floor with the Nugget Howard averaged 4.1 points per game on 38.6% shooting from the floor, 40.0% shooting from three-point range.
He spent most of his time in G League with the Grand Rapids Gold averaging 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and shooting 36.8% from three-point range. The Nuggets made a lof of moves this offseason and they have a full roster of 15 players.
So, Howard was not expected to return to the squad. On the other side, Baskonia is adding a great shooter and scoring guard, who can easily become one of the best in the European level at this position.
The Nuggets brought more veteran leadership this offseason with the additions of Bruce Brown and DeAndre Jordan in free agency. They also traded for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. As of Baskonia, they already added another great NCAA prospect in Daulton Hommes.
Howard will be the second signing of the offseason for the Spanish powerhouse.
