FC Bayern Munich is going to end a really exhausting one-week group of games that span from last Friday to next Sunday. After their playoff-clinching win vs Crvena Zvezda on Friday, Bayern will play three EuroLeague games in one week.
This will be the first ever EuroLeague triple-week, while Bayern will need to compete also in the domestic league next weekend. Starting Saturday, the undermanned Bayern loss to Oldenburg 105-76 only 19 hours later from the triumphant win over Zvezda.
The Bavarians will have the chance to bounce back Monday vs Fenerbahce as they hope to improve their playoff seeding and avoid FC Barcelona. Head coach Andrea Trinchieri believes his team will have to take an “one at a time” approach to every game.
“We are now facing a huge challenge, because this will be the first triple week in EuroLeague history and for us it’s six games in nine days,” Trinchieri said. “So the only goal is to take it one game at a time and give our best every time.”
Bayern will play Fener Monday, Efes Wednesday and Real Madrid Friday hoping to end the regular season on a high note. Othello Hunter revealed the team is hapy making the postseason, but they obviously want more.
“I’m happy we’re in the playoffs, we’ve had enough wins on what I would call a crazy journey. We’ve never had the full team before, but we played our best basketball at the right time.
Fener is a good team even if they’re not in it, but we totally respect them with their amazing fans. This week will be exhausting, travel a lot, you have to eat and sleep well. We want to win more games and use the momentum.”
Bayern will have the chance to climb in the EuroLeague standings and maybe have a better seeding and a better chance to make the Final-Four in Belgrade.
