FC Barcelona dominated Fenerbahce at home (88-67) and clinched the top spot in the EuroLeague standings.
The Catalans now have a 21-5 record and they can’t drop to second in the remaining regular season games. Fenerbahce fell to 9-15 and is on the brink of elimination from the EuroLeague playoffs.
MVP: Alex Abrines and Nikola Mirotic led the way for the winners, scoring 18 points each. On the contrary, Marko Guduric had a team-high 15 points for the losing squad.
Key to victory: The hosts were unstoppable in the third quarter. Playing excellent on both ends, they outscored the Turks 28-15 and took a 21-point lead (70-49). The visitors never recovered after that and suffered a heavy road loss.
Next week, FC Barcelona will clash with Olympiacos, which also secured the home-court advantage. For its part, Fenerbahce will host ALBA Berlin on Tuesday in a rescheduled Round 21 game.
