EuroLeague Diaries: Real Madrid experiences worst offensive night in EuroLeague history

Real Madrid could not buy a basket in Kaunas, while Olympiacos needed an almost perfect quarter against Milan to claim victory.

1.Real Madrid scores just 47 in Kaunas

Real Madrid experienced one of the worst offensive nights in the EuroLeague during the 68-47 loss to Zalgiris Kaunas. ‘Los Blancos’ previous lowest score was 49 points against Spirou Charleroi on November 17, 2010.

Real struggled to score from all over the place, shooting 43 percent from the field as a team and 6.7 percent from deep in 15 three-point attempts. The Spanish giants tied the worst three-point shooting percentage for the club in EuroLeague.

2. Efes destroys Maccabi by setting record on threes

While Madrid struggled to score the ball, Anadolu Efes found itself in the opposite side of the spectrum. Efes set a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague record with 22 three-pointers in the 109-77 blowout win over Maccabi.

Everything was going in for the Turkish giants, who made 22 triples on 34 attempts for a club-record 64.7 percent three-point accuracy. The winning side finished by making 20 of 30 of its two-pointers and dishing 28 assists in the process, marking a season-high and the second-most assists in club history.

3. Olympiacos turns the tides in the fourth quarter

Milan was in control for most of the game in the contest against Olympiacos Thursday night. However, the “Reds” found a way to win in the fourth quarter. Kostas Sloukas made some big shots and Sasha Vezenkov had also several huge plays.

The Greek giants had 13 turnovers in the first three quarters. They only succumbed to one during the closing quarter, when they made a 28-15 run to win the game. After having only 7 assists in the opening three periods, Olympiacos dished 6 in the fourth quarter alone to secure a huge win.
