Olimpia Milano will have to face more injury adversity going forward, as Nicolo Melli went down with a calf injury at the end of the Game 1 loss to Efes. Milan is already missing Luigi Datome, Tre Kella and Dinos Mitoglou.
Head coach Ettore Messina appeared concerned for Melli’s future in the best-of-five series. The veteran coach said the team will know more tomorrow. The next game is on Thursday for the EuroLeague playoff series vs Efes.
“Nicolo Melli had an injury at the end that we will evaluate tomorrow morning. But itelli doesn’t look good. But we will play a game in 48 hours and we’ll try our best to improve our level,” Messina said.
Melli was the leading scorer for his team in a very disappointing offensive performance for the Italian side. They only scored 48 points in 40 minutes of play as Efes played suffocated defense.
The veteran Italian forward finished with 10 points, six rebounds and a team-best PIR of 15 as Milan dropped the first game in Mediolanum Forum.
