Bayern Munich will likely have to play with Darrun Hilliard for the rest of the series vs FC Barcelona. Hilliard suffered an injury during the Game 1 of the best-of-five series vs Barca.
The veteran guard possibly suffered a clavicle fracture, according to head coach Andrea Trinchieri. That means he could be out not only for the series but for the season.
Hillard accidentally collided with Barcelona’s big Roland Smits in the fourth quarter of the Game 1 on Tuesday.
Hillard’s injury put a dent in the Bavarians’ hope to make a fourth quarter comeback in Game 1 loss to the Spanish giants. Bayern has already its share of injuries issues this season.
“I am very proud of my team,” Trinchieri said in the post-game presser. “We came back and fought. We had a very bad injury, Hilliard, very severe, and this says how physical was the game.”
Hilliard, in enormous pain, stayed down for a while. He went straight to the locker room afterwards, and soon he left for the hospital in order to get further examined.
Bayern’s perimeter’s got extensively weaker, as they’re already missing starting guard Corey Walden.
In any case, Andrea Trinchieri and co. have to look ahead to the next game, which comes on Thursday vs FC Barcelona.
