Baskonia parting ways with Yannick Wetzell

Baskonia parted ways with big man Yannick Wetzel, the team announced Monday. The center from New Zealand joined the team a few months back and he will not continue with the ACB side.

It was the first season in Europe for the Wetzell. The 25-year-old did not play in the EuroLeague for Baskonia, but he appeared in 11 Spanish ACB league games. The season prior to coming over to Spain, Wetzell played for the New Zealand Breakers.

He averaged 17.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in the NBL. In the ACB Wetzell has averaged 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 0.4 assists. The Spanish club has released many players so far this offseason.

Wade Baldwin IV left for Maccabi, while veteran guard Jayson Granger finished his second stint with the club and joined Reyer Venezia. Moreover, forward Alec Peters also could be leaving the club, with Olympiacos having interest in the veteran forward.
