Barcelona seeks to advance to second straight EuroLeague Championship Game in clash with Real Madrid

Reporting from Belgrade

Barcelona and Real Madrid will battle for a place in the Championship Game of the EuroLeague Final Four.

The two Spanish giants collide for the seventh time in all competitions this season, with the “Whites” having won only once (5-1).

However, Thursday’s semi-final will be a completely different game and this is what Sarunas Jasikevicius and Pablo Laso told media on Wednesday.

Given how well both teams have played defensively this season, this could be a low scoring game. Barcelona conceded 75.5 points per game, while Real allowed its opponents to score just 73.6 points.

The “Blaugrana” will rely on EuroLeague MVP Nikola Mirotic and big man Brandon Davies to take control, while Nicolas Laprovittola’s three-point shooting will be key for the Catalans.

The Argentinian guard spent the past two seasons with Real before moving to Barcelona in the summer.

On the other hand, Vincent Poirier and Walter Tavares will aim to dominate the paint for Real, while Guerschon Yabusele will be the team’s X-Factor on both ends.

For his part, star guard Sergio Llull seeks to win his third EuroLeague title in his 8th Final Four appearance. He was previously there with Real in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

The winner of the 7th El Clasico of the season will go on to the Championship Game to take on Olympiacos or Anadolu Efes.
