After spending the first professional year of his career as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, Yves Pons returns to his home country to join ASVEL Villeurbanne, the LNB Pro A champions announced Tuesday.
Pons, a Haitian-born French player, split the 2021-22 season with the Grizzlies and their G-League affiliate Memphis Hustle. He appeared in 12 games with the Grizzlies posting 1.1 points, and 1.0 rebounds.

He obviously had a more extended role in the G League putting up 9.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25.4 minutes over nine matches. Pons has been a member of the French national team in all youth teams.
He helped Les Bleus win a gold medal at the 2014 U16 European Championship. ASVEL coaching staff watched the player in the Las Vegas Summer League and was pursuaded to offer him a contract.
Pons signed a two-year contract with the French powerhouse. The high-flying forward is the sixth signing of the offseason for ASVEL.
