Anadolu Efes bolstered its backcourt by signing former Maccabi and Cleveland Cavaliers center Ante Zizic, the back-to-back EuroLeague champions announced Wednesday. Zizic was a real force of nature last season with Maccabi.
The 25-year-old center spent the previous two seasons with Maccabi and averaged 12.2 points and five rebounds in the EuroLeague last year. Maccabi fell to Real Madrid (3-0) in the playoffs after an incredible finish in the 2021-22 regular season.
Despite reaching the EuroLeague playoffs for the first time since 2014, the Israeli side had a disappointing finish to the season losing in the Israeli League semifinals. Zizic’s current deal with Efes will have duration for three years.
This past season was Zizic’s second campaign back in Europe after a three-year run with the Cleveland Cavaliers between 2017 and 2020. This is the second signing for the reigning EuroLeague champs this offseason.
They kept Shane Larkin, Bryant Dunston, Bugrahan Tuncer and Erten Gazi, while they signed former EuroLeague Final-4 MVP Will Clyburn.
