Anadolu Efes protected its home court and decimated Maccabi Tel-Aviv to keep its playoff chances alive (109-77).
The Turks improved to 13-12 in the standings and swept the season series vs the Israelis. For its part, Maccabi dropped to 11-13 and missed the opportunity to come closer to the final playoff spot.
Efes set a new EuroLeague record with 22 made three-pointers. They also set a new club record with the 113 points they scored.
MVP: Vasilije Micic was unstoppable for the winners. With 20 points and 10 assists, the reigning EuroLeague MVP led the Turks to a crucial home win.
Key to victory: The 22 three-pointers that Efes made in the game. The reigning champions led from start to finish and went on a 19-2 run in the third quarter to seal the deal. The hosts didn’t let the Israelis come closer than nine points and cruised to the victory.
Next week, Anadolu Efes remains at home and will host rivals Fenerbahce on Thursday. On the contrary, Maccabi returns to Tel-Aviv for a couple of home games. They will play Baskonia and Zenit Saint-Petersburg on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.
