AS Monaco Basket has been one the most surprising teams of this year’s EuroLeague. Sasa Obradovic and co. has been excellent so far racking up several big wins against EuroLeague powerhouses, like Fenerbahce and Anadolu Efes
In Round 29 of the competition, Mike James and Alpha Diallo led their team to a huge victory. Diallo put up another great performance in his team’s 102-80 crushing win vs the EuroLeague reigning champions Anadolu Efes.
While Mike James is the clear-cut superstar of the team, Diallo has been an exceptional complimentary piece for Sasa Obradovic’s squad.
The Providence product spent his first season overseas in the Greek Basket League with Lavrio BC. He was the leading scorer there before making the jump to the LNB Pro A and AS Monaco during the 2021-2022 offseason.
The 24-year-old guard/forward has played 29 games in the EuroLeague so far. He has averages of 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in his first season in the competition.
Monaco is at 15-14 in its inaugural season in the EuroLeague. Against Efes, the dynamic guard/forward had another excellent game with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists for PIR of 31.
Entering Friday’s contest, Diallo was averaging 13.1 points over his last seven games. He was also an all-around presence for his team, pulling more than five rebounds in six of these seven games.
According to the EuroLeague, only four players have accumulated a higher PIR since Round 23 than Diallo as he averaged 17.0 through the last seven games prior to Friday’s win.
Monaco has been in a great run lately and Diallo is a huge part of the latest positive results. After decimating the EuroLeague champions, Monaco is looking forward to adding to its winning record in the Pro A and the EuroLeague.
